Absorbency is rated by fluid capacity and layer count. Light absorbency suits occasional incontinence; heavy/overnight absorbency is appropriate for bedbound patients and overnight use. Match absorbency to clinical need.
Are these pads disposable or reusable?
Most underpads sold in cases are single-use disposables. Reusable (quilted) underpads are available for home health and long-term care and can be laundered.
Can these replace a brief or protective underwear?
No. Underpads protect bedding and furniture but do not replace absorbent briefs for patients who are ambulatory or self-mobile. Use both as clinically indicated.
What size should I order?
Standard hospital underpads are 23"×36". Larger 30"×36" or 36"×36" pads are used for bariatric patients or larger beds. Select a size that extends from mid-back to mid-thigh under the patient.
