Read the label.

Every disinfectant has a specific contact time (dwell time) for each pathogen. Use exactly as labeled — longer contact is safe, shorter is ineffective.

Pre-clean.

Remove visible soil before disinfection. Disinfectants do not penetrate organic matter effectively.

Apply to saturation.

Wet the surface until visibly saturated. Let it remain wet for the full labeled contact time — don't wipe dry early.

Allow to air dry.

For high-touch surfaces and shared equipment, allow the surface to air dry completely before returning to use.

What is 'contact time' and why does it matter?

Contact time (dwell time) is how long a disinfectant must remain wet on a surface to kill the specified pathogens. EPA-registered disinfectants list contact times per pathogen on the label. Wiping a surface dry before the contact time is met renders the disinfection ineffective.

Is this EPA registered for [pathogen]?

Check the EPA registration number and refer to EPA List N (or the applicable pathogen list) to confirm efficacy claims. Different products have different kill claims — never assume broad coverage.

Can I use this on electronics and medical equipment?
